BIRDWATCHING. AIGÜAMOLLS DEL EMPORDA. GIRONA(SPAIN)

This tour will take us part of the coastline of the Natural Park of the Empordà wetlands from freshwater lakes in summer and semi-shallow lagoons to reach more of The Killing and from there to the beach of Can Comes, surrounding the coastal lagoon of La Massona. From The Over Kill, where you can leave your car there are about 2.3 kilometers. Easy route to carry the kids to enjoy a morning of bird watching.
We climb the high tower Senillosa, old silos now recycled for ecotourism, and from there traveled admire the gaps and the golden sands of the beach. In the lagoon in front of the observatory and find a multitude of species.

At this meeting we have seen the two gulls that frequent the park, the Laughing Gull (Larus rudibundus) and yellow-legged gull (Larus michachellis), also stilt (Himantopus himantopus) and Egret (Egretta garzetta). We were successful and we saw several pairs of Garganey (Anas querquedendula) and a female of the Common Teal (Anas crecca). Also many pairs of Mallard (Anas platyrhynchos) and when they were leaving, we were surprised by a flying heron (Nycticorax nycticorax).

We continue to Palleja Observatory and from there to the Gall Aguait Mari. More ducks and waders, many common swallow (Hirundo rustica) and airplane pioneer (Riparia riparia) and flying over the pond, a marsh harrier (Circus aeruginosus). Leaving to the right of Matias Aguait reach the Playa de Can Comes. The tramontona blows very strong and makes us flee the area but it is easy to see on this beach almost all the birds that frequent the Aigüamolls. It is a safe place for nesting. We return along the same road and trees between the Pajaro surprised Mosconi (Remiz Penduline) and Goldfinch (carduelis carduelis) that whistle from the highest branches.
